How to Remain Healthy While Staying Home

With all the changes happening in the world right now, nearly all of us are spending more time in our houses. It can seem tricky to keep up with a healthy lifestyle when your gym in Cedar Falls is closed.

You could have become the educator, chef, and parent in your home. Perhaps you are working from home for the time being and striving to create some normalcy during the day.

Throughout these unpredictable times, it can be easy to head to the couch, checking the news and your favorite shows, and casually giving up on a daily workout routine. We may be stranded at home, but we can still generate ways to preserve a healthy lifestyle! We’re sharing our favorite positive practices you can integrate into your updated daily routine to be active, promote your immune system, and maintain momentum toward achieving your wellness intentions.

Start Home Workouts

One nice thing about spending more time at home is the adaptability in your day-to-day routine. Think about your day. Where can you squeeze in a couple of minutes for a home workout? A great workout doesn’t need to go on forever to be effective. As long as your heart rate goes up, you will receive fat and calorie-burning benefits! Take a look at our 12-minute home fitness class you can work on anytime, anywhere!

Include Your Kids in Your Workout

The pools may not be available, but there are still a variety of ways to incorporate fun activities your little ones will want to do. Because being active isn’t just for grownups! Here are a couple of our top fun (and free!) ways your family can get as a group:

  • Take a nice, long walk
  • Bring a frisbee out of your house in the warm sun (hello Vitamin D!)
  • Head out for a bike ride or roller skate adventure
  • Form a floral arrangement with your family’s blooms
  • Play ball in the yard
  • Find your sidewalk chalk and draw a driveway mural
  • Have a dinner cooking contest
  • Turn on the tunes and have a dance break

Prepare Healthy Meals

Are you attempting to stay out of the grocery store? That works! Now is the time to make new things in the kitchen and mix in your available canned goods and frozen foods. With the kids away from school, full days working from home, and the usual household chores, keep your breakfasts, lunches, and dinners simple this summer.

At FXB, we make good nutrition simple for our members. Grab your chosen protein type from the freezer, pick a carb for your side, and add some healthy fat. And there you go: a healthy dinner with little to no fuss. (And if it’s your fun day, order a pizza and hang at home!)
